Leon Madsen finished fourth in Saturday's TAURON SEC round held in Güstrow. The Dane scored 12 points and is four points behind the leader, Janusz Kołodziej.
The European Champion showed a high level of form, as evidenced by the fact that he advanced to the final heat straight after the regular phase, in which he scored 12. Madsen won two races and finished second three times. In the final, he chased his rivals from the start, but eventually crossed the finish line behind Daniel Bewley.
- I'm disappointed, and it's not what I wanted. Unfortunately for me, Janusz won the race, so he got a bit of an advantage now. That's not the perfect situation for me, but it is what it is. I'll be back stronger for the next meeting.
The Dane is in fourth place in the interim classification of the series. Currently, he has as many points as the defending champion, Mikkel Michelsen, and one point less than second in the table, Patryk Dudek. The riders still have two rounds to go. On 3 September, they will face each other in Łódź and the TAURON SEC 2022 grand final will take place 20 days later in Pardubice. Madsen stresses that everything is still possible and the gold medal is a real option.
- I've never raced in Łódź, and I was in Pardubice many years ago. I think both tracks will suit me well, so I look forward to that. There are two more meeting, and I believe I can catch Janusz.
The third round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2022 will take place on 3 September in Łódź. Tickets for this event are available via ebilet.pl.
