Rybnik's TAURON SEC round was the first one for Piotr Pawlicki in which he took part in after the serious injury. There would be nothing surprising about this, if not the fact that he suffered a serious damage less than a month before the tournament, which took place on July 2nd.

On June 6, during the match between GKM Grudziądz and Unia Leszno, there was a serious crash involving Piotr Pawlicki and Nicki Pedersen. The Dane was diagnosed with a fracture of the pelvis in two places, while the Pole suffered an injury of two shoulder blades. The first diagnosis was that Pawlicki would be out of speedway for at least six weeks, but he returned on the track earlier than expected.

After the fall, the Polish representative underwent intensive rehabilitation. In the meantime, he missed several PGE Ekstraliga matches and could not take part in the qualifiers for the Speedway Grand Prix series. However, his participation in the TAURON SEC 2022 competition was assured, thanks to his fourth place in last year's cycle. Until the end, it was not clear whether he would be able to compete in the first of the finals. Finally, thanks to intensive treatment, he managed to do so, but his disposition after the break remained one big unknown.

He appeared in very good form, and played one of the key roles in Rybnik. In the regular phase, he managed to win two races, came second in one and third in two. He scored 10 points, which allowed him to take part in the extra heat for the final. In this one, he fell due to Bartosz Smektała crash. Ambulances had to go to the riders, fortunately this time both managed to avoid injuries. In the rerun, Pawlicki crossed the finish line behind Leon Madsen and Patryk Dudek and finished the first final of this year's TAURON SEC series in fifth place.

Few riders would return on track after such a serious injury in less than a month. The result achieved by Piotr Pawlicki, who finished in the lead of the heavily contested competition, should be appreciated. A day later, in a league duel in Ostrów Wielkopolski, as a one of the leaders of the Leszno team scored 13 points, winning four of his five races, and was chosen as a rider of the match. Certainly, determination and the will to fight allowed Piotr Pawlicki to get back on the track sooner, and he will amaze his fans many more times with his ambitious riding on the track.

Ticket sales for each round of the TAURON SEC 2022 are still ongoing. Tickets are available at www.ebilet.pl and speedwayeuro.com.
