Daniel Bewley made a fantastic debut in the SEC series. British rider took the third place during the opening round of SEC 2021 in Bydgoszcz and he almost grabbed a sensational victory already in the first tournament in his career.
Bewley made a great start in the Miejski Stadium in Bydgoszcz. After two series, both Robert Lambert and Bewley scored 6 points each. In the next heats, the British rider scored four more points, which made him take the 5th place after the regular round and promoted him the race off for the final.
In the extra heat, Bewley defeated his opponents and in his first start in his career, he advanced to the final race of the SEC cycle. In this race, the Brit faced Leon Madsen, Mikkel Michelsen and Piotr Pawlicki. Sensationally, Bewley was on the lead, but Madsen's fall caused the race to be stopped.
In the re-run the trio of Bewley, Madsen and Pawlicki had a great duel and the Dane won.
- We got third after all. In the second run in the final I was little bit goofed. I was leading before the crash on second or third lap. I almost won but in the same time I'm pretty happy with how it ended - said Bewley.
For the rookie in the SEC series, participation in this year's competition has a special meaning due to the fact that only a few years ago he watched the championship tournaments on television and now he is a regular participant of the series.
- Racing against Leon and Piotr is something special. A few years ago I was watching the SEC with Leon in it and I was still on National League or Championship in England, so it's pretty cool feeling just to be in the final heat. It would be nice to win, but overall I'm happy with my performance tonight.
