It's not the best year in the TAURON SEC series for Michael Jepsen Jensen. The Dane scored 18 points in twenty races and is on the 15th place in the interim classification of the cycle. Liglad stresses that he is struggling not only with rivals or bikes, but also with many non-racing situations this year.
During the last few years, Michael Jepsen Jensen has built up a reputation of a high scoring rider. Fans will certainly remember the Dane winning the FIM Speedway Grand Prix round in Vojens. Last season, Jensen was close to staying in the TAURON SEC cycle. He lost only one point to the fifth place, which guaranteed the spot in next year's competition.
This season, Jensen's situation is much worse. So far, The Dane has not won any of the races in the Individual European Championship cycle. What's more, third and fourth places are dominating in his stats.
The 2012 Individual Junior World Champion indicates that his problems are not entirely related to speedway. Many of them make it impossible for Jensen to fully concentrate on racing.
The last competition in Gniezno was much better than the previous rounds. 7 out of the 18 points that the Dane scored in this year's TAURON SEC series were earned during the third round. In recent days, the rider from Grindsted worked with his team on his bikes, which resulted in a higher points score.
- We've been struggling a bit with the speed. Today I had problems with my shoulder, which recovers from the crash in Toruń, caused by the rough track there. I'm fighting with a lot of things, a lot of things is going on in the background that is disturbing my head, so it's very hard to stay focused on the racing. But that's life and that's speedway. I'm just trying to do my best in the situation that I'm in now. I feel like the two last heats in Rybnik were a bit better and in Gniezno it was tough but I felt like, when we did some changes on the bikes it was going in a direction we want. In the other meetings nothing really worked, like we were used to. We were very confused. But hopefully things will turn around and it will only be better - said Michael Jepsen Jensen.
The final round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020 will be held in Toruń, 29th of July at 7 PM. Tickets for this event are available via eBilet.pl.
