For the second time this season, Leon Madsen won a round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020. The Dane won in Bydgoszcz and from now he's on the first place in the interim classification of the cycle.
Speedway fans in Bydgoszcz enjoyed a great competition and one of the riders who took care of the huge number of actions on the track was definitely Leon Madsen. The Individual European Champion from two years ago won four races, but the lack of points in heat number 14 forced him to fight for promotion to the final in the "last chance" heat, which he won without a doubt.
The final heat was a serious fight between the riders but Madsen quickly managed to get through his rivals and then for the second time this year, he crossed the starting line as the first.
After the competition in Bydgoszcz, the Individual Vice World Champion became the leader of the TAURON SEC interim classification, having two points advantage over Robert Lambert and Nick Pedersen. Madsen stated at the press conference, that winning the title of Individual European Champion is one of his main goals for this year.
- I'm very happy, I'm happy about the win of course, but I'm also happy about the leading in interim classification of Individual European Championships now. I was of course pleased about the win in Toruń, but I was also a little bit disappointed about being two points behind the rivals. Now we are leading and this is where I want to be. I want to win the European Championship and so far so good. We have to keep pushing because all the guys try to improve and catch me, so we have to improve as well. I keep focused and sharp. We’ll celebrate tonight and we’re looking forward to the next round - said Leon Madsen.
The third round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship will be held on July 15th in Gniezno. The meeting starts at 7 PM. Tickets for this event are available via eBilet.pl.
