Robert Lambert had a match to remember on Friday scoring 13+1 and playing a pivot roll in Rybnik’s first win of the season at home to Gorzow. And his “super-sub” performance from the #8 position was not just good news for his club, but also good news for his chances at winning another SEC Round as he did in Güstrow, Germany in 2018. That is because in his three of his four heat wins for Rybnik, he beat TAURON SEC rivals, Vaclav Milik and Krzysztof Kasprzak who were paired together for the visitors.

The young Englishman’s hard work pushes him up to 12th in the rider’s average table where he now boasts an impressive 2.000 p/h. It puts him just two places behind World Champion and Torun wildcard, Bartosz Zmarzlik who will be racing his first ever TAURON European Championship race on Saturday. However, Lambert might not be so keen as the fans are to see Zmarzlik at the starting gate. Lambert came first in four of his six heats against Gorzow. In both those heats he failed to win, who was his rival? Yes, the Polish World Champion - who beat the Brit on both occasions.

Zmarzlik won the 2019 World Championship in Torun by just two points. But it was 2020 SEC participant, Leon Madsen, who won the Grand Prix of Poland that night. And in 2020, the Danish rider has made a near faultless start to his Ekstraliga season with Czestochowa. He scored a paid maximum of 14+1 as his side destroyed the visiting Wroclaw side on Sunday night in a one-sided match.

The Danish winner of the TAURON SEC in 2018 now has a heat average of 2.733 after three matches in the top Polish division and is surely favourite to take Round 1 of the championship when it starts at 17:00 hrs on Saturday.

But Lambert, Zmarzlik and the others will be happy to change that and it all means a great night of racing awaits.
