Anders Thomsen returns to the Speedway Euro Championship cycle after a two-year break. Dane got from the organizers a permanent wild card and try to prove that he deserved it. Before starting the competition, he signals the desire to fight for medal positions.

Originally Anders Thomsen tried to get the right to start in the Speedway Euro Championship cycle because he took part in the SEC Challenge tournament, which took place on May 25 at the Hungarian Nagyhalasz. In the main round he collected ten points and still counted in the fight for the first five places, awarded with the start in the final cycle.

He lost the chance of promotion in the playoff run when the judge ruled out Kacper Woryna's fall. The Dane fought with the Pole for the third place, which guaranteed a pass to the European championship. As a result of the above-mentioned exclusion, Thomsen was finally classified in sixth place and proved to be the first of the losers.

- It seems to me that I was prepared enough to be in the top five. The track was quite difficult compared to others, but we had a really good racing. It was hard, but at the same time you could find many overtaking lines. My mechanics are from Hungary and live near the stadium, but did it help me? I do not know, I do not think so much. I know, however, that their families appeared at the competition, so they could see them. It's hard to say what I missed for direct promotion. In the playoff, a strange exclusion happened to me, and because of that, I had no way to go through it and get out of it with a defensive hand - assesses the player.

Anders Thomsen did not have to worry too long, because after a few days he got the information that the organizers awarded him a permanent wild card, entitling him to take part in the Speedway Euro Championship cycle in the season 2019. The player will therefore go in all four final rounds, which will take place successively in Gustrow, Toruń, Holsted and Chorzów.

- When I found out about it, I was really very happy. It was one of my goals for this season to get to the finals of the European Championships. I felt strongly disappointed after my exclusion in Nagyhalasz, so I was extremely happy when I was informed that I was restored to competition. Such a cycle gives you the opportunity to test yourself in a battle. You can recognize and see what you will be able to do in the future. This is really important to me, because it seems to me that it may be a step towards the Grand Prix - betrayer from Denmark reveals.

For Anders Thomsen it will not be the first adventure with the Speedway Euro Championship cycle, because he competed in it already in the 2016 season. He went best in the second round in Daugavpils, where he scored nine points, but never even qualified for the playoff run, allowing you to fight for promotion to the grand finale. Throughout the season, he collected a total of 20 points and was classified at a distant fourteenth place. He ended the game with an unlucky fall during the last round in Rybnik, after which he was unable to drive further.

- It was a nasty accident. It took me a while to get back to full fitness. Fortunately, then again I got on a motorcycle, I started to gain more and more points and deal much better. SEC is amazing. It provides a great spectacle and often gathers a lot of fans in the stands. When I started this cycle for the first time, I was a bit nervous. Now I have much more confidence and I approach it completely differently. I'm sure it will be a little easier for me. If I succeed, I would like to get a medal. This is one of my goals. I feel like I'm in shape and I can do it. Now you only have to be lucky - convinces the Dane.

Anders Thomsen's career is gradually growing. This year, the Danish signed his first contract in the Polish PGE Ekstralidze and thanks to that regularly races with the best players in the world. It has been said for a long time that it has a lot of potential, and now it is ready to confirm it also on the international arena. This year he will go in the European Championship, and at the end of August he will start the Grand Prix Challenge and try to fight for a pass to the next year's World Championships.

- If I can become one of the best players, I will do everything to make it happen. I'm developing my career step by step. I do it slowly and I approach it with calmness. Some time ago I started in the second league, then in the first league, and now I'm in the extralese. The Polish league is really very difficult. I have met many new rules here and met a lot of new tracks. It all tastes very special to me. It does not make sense to hurry. I hope that there is still a rich future ahead of me and many years of prosecution, "Anders Thomsen concluded.
