During final TAURON SEC 2018 round, which will take place in Chorzów on Saturday, we’ll face a lot of emotions. Except main dish, the fight for the title, some riders will do everything to stay in SEC for another year.
Before last round, Leon Madsen is on the top of general classification. Dane has 4 points advantage over Jarosław Hampel and 5 points ofer Briton, Robert Lambert. It seems that top 3 riders will make a huge battle for a European champion title.
Also, we’ll see very interesting duels in the fight for place in next TAURON SEC edition. For now, fourth is Emil Sayfutdinov, who has 30 points and still has chances to take a medal with him. Unortunately for him, 5 other riders are in similar situation.
That’s how places 4-9 look in general classification.
4. Emil Sayfutdinov 30p
5. Mikkel Michelsen 28p
6. Antonio Lindbaeck 28p
7. Vaclav Milik 26 p
8. Kai Huckenbeck 26 p
9. Peter Kildemand 25p
Every one of these six riders still has an opportunity to finish SEC 2018 on the podium. The closest to safe place and slot in next year tournament is Emil Sayfutdinov. After the competition in Daugavpils, Russian said that he still wants to take a medal in Chorzów. Now he has only 3 points less than Robert Lambert. Interestingly, in Gniezno and Daugavpils, they scored the same number of points. In Poland it was just 6. In Latvia, both of them finished in the podium. The advantage of Lambert has been accomplished by him in Gustrow, where Briton was the best.Russian has to look behind him, because his advantage over Mikkel Michelsen and Antonio Lindbaeck is very little.
Dane, along with Lambert, is the biggest surprise of this year’s cycle. At the beginning, he fought not with rivals, but with hard pain. Despite that, in Gniezno he showed, that he can be an important part of 2018 TAURON SEC. In Gustrow, he just confirmed that. Unfortunately, in Daugavpils he wasn’t as fast as he wanted, but he still is in the game.
Antonio Lindbaeck still believes in a happy finish, too. Swede started his fight very nicely, by second place and 13 points in Gniezno. Unfortunately, in Germany he didn’t make a satisfactory result. A lot of times, riders mark that in SEC there is no place for any bad day and Lindbaeck had just that. Fortunately for him, in Daugavpils he was really better and it gave him an opportunity to stay in SEC.
Close behind Michelsen and Lindbaeck are Vaclav Milik and Kai Huckenbeck with 26 points. Czech started in TAURON SEC 2018 as a favourite. After two years with medals, he said that he want to win. Now, Milik is in the other place than during the spring. Of course, in SEC he’s riding on equal level, but it’s not enough to stay in the cycle. A little step ahead was made by him in Daugavpils.
In other situation is Kai Huckenbeck. Before the cycle, organisers gave him a wild card and in Gniezno he showed that he deserved that. 11 points and place on the podium was the best possible answer for that. In Gustrow, where German feels the best, a lot of fans expected him do deliver an epic ride, but finally he finished his ride in race-off. After two rounds German was in top 5 of the GC, but after average competition in Daugavpils, he lost his good position.
Peter Kildemand is facing a quite similar situation. Dane still has chances to stay in the cycle, because he has only 3 points less than Mikkel Michelsen. Before competition in Daugavpils, „Spiderman” was 5th, but in Latvia he wasn’t in his top form. Now, it’s important to say, that before last round he has still a little advantage over other riders. In the past, he took part in competitions on artifical tracks, what can make Dane a huge favourite in Chorzów. As we remember, Spiderman won Grand Prix round in Horsens, so he knows how to do it, but rivals will not wait for his moves.
That’s how looks the stats of described riders:
