Leon Madsen was the runner-up of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2018 second round in Güstrow. Thanks to his impressive score, Dane moved up in the overall classification of the series.
During Saturday's meeting, Leon Madsen showed some solid racing at the German track, having only one failed heat, whilst finishing as first in four of them. After finishing this round with 14 points gathered, Madsen moved to the second position in overall classification. Currently, he's only three points away from the leader - Jarosław Hampel.
- I'm pleased about today, because I scored many points and got back in the game. It was an important meeting for me. Gniezno was not so good, but I knew if I would have got here a good result, that would take me up in the overall classification. There are still two rounds left. I'm currently second, so there's a lot to fight for. Now, we're celebrating, but already looking forward to the next rond, which will definitely be a tough one. This year, there's some great line up in TAURON SEC. There are no easy heats, you need to stay sharp to collect points - Madsen said.
Third round of the Individual Speedway European Championship is going to be held in Daugavpils (Latvia). Leon Madsen says that track in Latvia suits him better than the one in Güstrow. Two years ago, during the second SEC round, which was held in Daugavpils, Madsen was ninth after getting 8 points.
- I don't know how I should race there, but has just watched the starting numbers draw and from what I've heard, my number is not so good actually. However, I do feel the track in Latvia suits me better than the one here in Germany. It's definitely a bigger track and I'm looking forward to this meeting with optimism. I will be ready - Madsen ended.
