Robert Lambert won the second round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2018, which was held in Güstrow. Brit presented a fabulous knowing of German track and got his first triumph in the Individual Speedway Euro Championship.
Saturday's meeting started for Lambert with two "threes", however in the later phase, he was third twice.
- Two first heats were great, but then I had to move to the second gate, which made it hard to fight for three points. What's more, surface is changing, which can be crucial. We made some corrections, but I would like to go back to the setups from the beginning of this meeting. It's an important round for me - I've spent a lot of time here, feeling this track as kind of my home one - Lambert would say during the meeting. I thought the meeting was going downhill a little bit with these two third places, but we managed to bring things back
After a short crisis, Brit bounced back with another win, which made him reach the second overall position before the final heat, right behind Leon Madsen. This let "Ruthless" pick the gate after Dane. As it turned out, lack of a chance to get the third one in the final was decisive for Lambert. In the last heat of the day, British rider started with the fourth gate and right at the first corner, he took the lead.
- It's pretty incredible to win the Euro Championship round, so I'm really happy now. I thought the meeting was going downhill a little bit with these two third places, but me managed to bring things back and got the race win. In the last chance heat, Emil Sayfutdinov had a great start with gate no.3, so I wanted to pick this one in the final. Really, I was lucky to pick the gate four - I managed to get in the dirt and go around the outside of Leon.
Ahead of the third round in Daugavpils, Robert Lambert is third in the overall classification of the series. Brit started at this track in Latvia nearly a fortnight ago during the U21 World Championship.
- Same as today - I came here with no expectations, just enjoying racing my bike, keep flowing like I've been doing this season. I've been going really well so far, been really consistent, got a great team around me - big thanks to them and hopefully we'll keep continuing and score some more points - Lambert ended.
