It’s a month to the final round of SEC. On the 19th of September at SGP Arena in Częstochowa there will be fifteen best riders in Europe but only one of them will hold the cup for the best one in Europe. At this moment a lot of organizational work is done at the stadium and the effects of it will be seen during the great final.
Michael Jepsen Jensen, the representative of hosts started quite unexpectedly during the last tournament of Speedway European Championships in Holsted. For the young Dane it was the first start in SEC series. Although Jensen took part in the Challenge in Debrecen but his score wasn’t successful enough to qualify to the series.
Nicki Pedersen is not slowing down! Dane in the match of Swedish Elitserien scored so called big maximum. He won his heats six times and showed that he still wants to win the European champion title. Jarosław Hampel, who was unbeaten in three starts, reborn.
It’s exactly in a month, on the 19th of September in Częstochowa the final round of Speedway European Championships takes place. Generally only four riders can fight for the gold medal of European Championship. They are: Emil Sajfutdinow, Peter Kildemand, Nicki Pedersen i Martin Vaculik.
Krzysztof Kasprzak won Latvian Grand Prix which finally took place in Daugavpils. Nicki Pedersen stood on the second step of the podium and Greg Hancock on the third.. American is now also on the lead in general classification. Jarosław Hampel, who scored 4 points, wast 14th. Darcy Ward didn't take part in the tournament because he failed the alcoholic test before the event. Kjastas Puodzuks rode instead and scored 10 points.
The weather hasn’t been gracious for the riders who have been supposed to ride on Saturday and Sunday during two important tournaments. The tournament of world championship in Riga has been postponed to Sunday and as a result of that decision Individual International Ekstraliga Championship in Tarnów also has been postponed. Grand Prix tournament has been moved to Daugavpils and will take place tomorrow at 2 p. m.
Krzysztof Kasprzak won the gold medal of Individual Polish Championship which took place in Thursday evening in Zielona Góra. Piotr Pawlicki took the second place and last year champion, Janusz Kołodziej was on the lowest step of the podium. The biggest surprise was lack of the representatives of hosts, Jarosław Hampel and Piotr Protasiewicz in the race – off.
Peter, first of all, how do you feel?
- Well, generally it can be said that it’s okay now. Every day I feel better and better and I think I’m ready to come back on a track. After this crash concussion so doctors advised me to rest and I had to do that but, as I said, everything goes well and I’m coming back.
As a result of many debates FIM, FIM – Europe, BSI and One Sport have entered into an agreement concerning Individual European Championships in 2015. It says that all riders, no matter if they take part in Grand Prix series, can start in the Speedway European Championships qualifying rounds next year – there will be possibility to take part in both series.
Tuesday in Sweden was ruled by rain which appeared at speedway stadiums. The most interesting meeting took place in Hallstavik where the current champions, Piraterna Motala won with only one point advantage. Because of the difficult track the match was stopped for 1,5 hour. In other matches Vargarna, Dackarna and Indianerna won.
FOGO Unia Leszno made a big surprise in the postponed match and won in Zielona Góra wit SPAR Falubaz 46:44. As a result visitor are sure of being in the first four of Polish ENEA Esktraliga. Unibax Toruń still has a chance to be in the play – off but this is only mathematical chance.
Emil Sajfutdinow will definitely remember last weekend for a long time. At first Russian won in the third round of Speedway European Championships in Hoslted and the next day scored the maximum in Polish Enea Ekstraliga.
